Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Materials team combines knowledge of our dedicated supply chain with deep domain expertise and tenured experience to deliver unparalleled support to make sure we meet our operational objectives. Here you’ll interact daily with vendors and will partner with other key stakeholders to support our operations in meeting the needs of our customers.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Materials team, you will be responsible for reviewing material requirements to meet production plans, actual sales and forecasted sales plans. Developing inventory plans and procures the materials, parts, and components at the most cost effective pricing while meeting delivery expectations.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Five (5) years Buyer/Planner experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience with MRP material related system.
  • Familiarity with Nordco equipment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of SO99+ planning software also a plus
  • Proficient in the use of computer applications Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
  • Ability to read blueprints, good mathematical aptitude and knowledge of quality assurance philosophies, practices and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact and clearly communicate with other functional areas of the organization, management and suppliers.
  • Understanding of LEAN techniques including material pull systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees and customers.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and professionally react to different situations.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Analyze daily requirements to determine materials needs and execute purchase orders to satisfy demand schedules.
  • Maintain accurate delivery information on open purchase orders through supplier acknowledgements.
  • Expedite material delivery where necessary and maintain status updates on shortages for production, sales and service demand
  • Continually review stocking levels for each item to provide targeted service levels.
  • Communicate with Suppliers to best support the inventory plan and provide timely delivery for production needs.
  • Regularly update backlog status reports and communicate with Customer Service expected delivery for customer orders.
  • Review and recommend disposition of all excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Perform root cause analysis of service outliers to identify and implement improvements in overall process.

What about the physical demands of the job?

Work is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. Normal correctable vision is required.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The salary rate for this role is currently $60700-83400 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
