How you'll make a difference?
The Buyer/Planner I supports the supply chain function in maintaining inventory targets to ensure on-time customer shipment and maximize production line up-time. This role monitors, analyzes, and reports data to maintain department metrics. The Buyer/ Planner I prepares, processes, and maintains purchase and job orders in the ERP system and completes various other duties.
This is an entry-level professional role. The incumbent learns company policies, procedures, and application of professional concepts. The incumbent works on problems of limited scope and follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data. Work is periodically reviewed based on a set of defined procedures and precedence.
What will your duties and responsibilities be?
The following are the essential functions of this position. This position may be responsible for performing additional duties as tasks as needed and assigned.
  • General procurement/ planning duties (in alignment with Company procedures):
    • Process replenishment orders for parts, services, or expense items
    • Expedite existing purchase order (PO) and/or job orders
    • Confirm and maintain PO due dates with suppliers in alignment with required inventory target levels
    • Issue material conversion forms and maintain ERP data
  • Maintain accurate pricing, lead times, and other order parameters in ERP such as Minimum Order Quantity (MOQs), Min, Max, and Safety Stock
  • Responsible for working cross functionally to ensure shortages are appropriately expedited to avoid production line downs and/or late customer shipments
  • Responsible for driving supply, in alignment with Company requirements, from PO and/or job order placement to available for production and/or customer shipment
  • Responsible for achieving optimal pricing based on purchase history, usage, and/or forecasted demand
  • Attend cross-functional meetings to ensure alignment on purchasing and/or planning related activities
  • Work with internal customers, receiving, and/or accounting to resolve documentation and/or invoice discrepancies to ensure on time supplier payment
  • Support / coordinate return to vendor transactions
  • Provide support to other buyers or planners as needed
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned
What skills and experience will you need?

Education/Certifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
  • Requires 0-3 years of related experience
  • Must understand ERP/ MRP functionality
  • Must have good communication and math skills
  • Must be proficient using MS-Office
  • Team player – always willing to help other team members
  • Ability to interact with all company levels
  • Self-driven – works with minimal supervision & meets internal customer needs with no follow-up required
  • Manage multiple priorities
  • Some travel to other Company or vendor sites may be required
What skills and experience will you need?
The education, knowledge, skills and/or abilities listed below are preferred qualifications in addition to the minimum qualifications stated above.
Education/Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations, or related discipline preferred
  • 1-2 years of procurement experience
  • Lean/Six Sigma preferred
  • APICS, NAPM, ISM, or IBF preferred
Additional Experience, Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
  • Oracle ERP/EBS experience preferred
  • Oracle Fusion experience preferred
  • Previous medical device experience preferred

The anticipated salary for this position for an employee who is located in California is $68,000 to $72,000 per year, plus bonus, and benefits.
