Leidos’ Defense Systems Electronics Manufacturing is seeking a Cable Manufacturing Engineering Manager to guide and oversee the Cable Manufacturing Engineering section.

Primary Responsibilities
Leads Cable Manufacturing Engineering team by developing and monitoring tools to establish capacity requirements for both supporting staff and equipment.
Candidate will have direct involvement with NPI (New Product Introduction) as well as improving existing product efficiencies and yields.
Collaborate with various cross-functional teams to evaluate product and process designs.
Lead continuous improvements projects.
Participation in equipment and other capital investment plans to meet capacity and technology requirements.
Work closely with operations and production control to meet customer delivery requirements.
Monitor and develop KPI metrics.
Review and approval of engineering drawings, bills of materials, customer quality requirements, and work instructions.
Support quality engineering in process development and onsite audits.
Establish and monitor quality objectives of the production process.
Mentor and develop junior engineers in process development, root cause analysis, and mitigation.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent Engineering Technology degree, 5 or more years of applicable engineering experience or a Master’s Degree with 3 or more years prior relevant experience in an engineering field is required. Generally, has 2 or more years of experience supervising or leading teams or projects.
Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
Previous experience working in cable harness manufacturing and process development.
Strong background in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to optimize product designs for production efficiency.
Candidate must be a resident of Huntsville, Alabama or be willing to relocate to the Huntsville, Alabama area.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with IPC requirements (J-STD-001 and WHMA-IPC-A-620).
Experience with electronics used on launch vehicles, targets, or missile components such as PCBAs, cable harnesses, or electro-mechanical assemblies.
Experience with Costpoint Material Planning software and/or Windchill product lifecycle management software is a plus.
Experience working in a mid to high volume manufacturing environment.
Ability to provide Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates, Basis of Estimate (BOE) documents, and other information to support proposal efforts.
Demonstrated success in implementing lean principles to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Experience in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is also a plus.
Hands-on experience with cable assembly automation equipment, such as wire cutting and stripping machines, crimping machines, laser wire marking systems, and automated braiding or overmolding systems.
