As a CAD Technician, you will play a key role in designing and coordinating fire sprinkler systems for projects of all sizesfrom small retail spaces to large industrial power plants. Operate AutoSprink and other CAD software to create detailed fire sprinkler system designs based on input from other construction trades.

Review job documents to determine critical design dimensions and requirements.

Coordinate with other trades and project staff to ensure integrated and compliant system layouts.

Set up background drawings, including pipe routing, sizing, and head placement according to NFPA Codes.

Conduct job site surveys to validate measurements and assist with project setup.

Manage all aspects of project drawings, including design, procurement, material fabrication, and coordination with other trades.

Problem-solve design issues and make informed decisions to keep projects on track.

Work on multiple concurrent projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of accuracy.

Assist fire sprinkler designers with contract documentation and payment collection as needed.

Ensure safety protocols are followed both in the office and on project sites.

Associates degree or equivalent training in Design & Drafting Technology (or currently pursuing degree).

Experience with AutoCAD and/or AutoSprink design software; BIM experience is a plus.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Ability to read and interpret construction documents, blueprints, and safety rules (willingness to learn is acceptable).

Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate dimensions, rates, ratios, and interpret graphs; knowledge of hydraulic flow rates and pressures is a plus.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accountability for decisions.

Effective communication skills for coordinating with trades, journeymen, and clients.

Willingness to learn industry codes, local codes, OSHA standards, and labor-to-cost ratios.

Ability to perform physical activities on job sites, including lifting up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally, and navigating ladders, stairs, lifts, and tight spaces.
