Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Designer/Technician to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality CAD models, reverse-engineering components, preparing engineering drawings, and supporting product development workflows. This role requires strong proficiency with CAD tools, an understanding of dimensional requirements, and the ability to translate scan data and physical parts into accurate 3D models and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create precise 3D CAD models for components across various industries using tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, or Inventor.
- Perform reverse engineering from 3D scan data or physical measurements to produce accurate STEP files and native CAD files.
- Generate 2D engineered drawings, blueprints, and detailed documentation according to industry standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and clients to ensure CAD deliverables meet project specifications and functional requirements.
- Assist in dimensional analysis workflows by comparing CAD to scan data or measurement reports.
- Support product development tasks, including concept modeling, surfacing, and simulation-ready geometry preparation.
- Maintain organized project files and follow established CAD standards and naming conventions.
- Work efficiently on multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Drafting Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Proficiency with at least one major CAD platform (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Inventor, Siemens NX, or similar).
- Strong understanding of technical drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and manufacturing constraints.
- Ability to interpret scan data or point clouds (experience not required but highly beneficial).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a small engineering team.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with reverse engineering workflows and converting scan data into CAD.
- Familiarity with metrology, dimensional analysis, or quality inspection practices.
- Knowledge of Class A surfacing, FEA/CFD preparation, or complex CAD modeling techniques.
- Background in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, machining, or product development.
- Experience with 3D printing or additive manufacturing technologies.
