CAD Drafter

Alcobra Metals Inc. is a preferred supplier of non-ferrous metals in the Pacific Northwest. Supplying manufacturing companies with stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass, titanium, plastics, and more, Alcobra plays an important role in the manufacturing industry throughout the northwest and beyond.

This individual is responsible for producing cutting programs and processing orders via computerized drafting. This drafting position is open at the company’s production warehouse located in north Spokane.

This is a part time position that will expand into full time after the employee's probationary period (typically 2-4 weeks) is completed or the shop workload requires more time. Hours per week for part time employees are negotiable during the interview process, although Alcobra usually seeks 30-36 hours for all part time employees of this level.

Primary responsibilities:

• Program and operate drafting and nesting software including: SigmaNest, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and more.
• Import, re-draw (as needed), draw, and nest parts into computer drafting and nesting software
• Work with shop staff to ensure maximum nesting efficiency
• Manage completed programs, nests, and files for future retrieval
• Review work orders for clarity and help resolve questions that may arise
• Interface with customers by phone, email, or in person to answer simple questions or provide other information.
• Occasionally assist customers in-person when they arrive to pick up their order.

Required qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Understands the importance of geometric tolerances
• Ability to interpret and read customer-supplied drawings
• Strong attention to detail and thoroughness
• High level of ownership for producing quality parts within customer spec
• Ability to collaborate well in a team environment

What this position IS NOT:

• This is NOT the type of job where you sit at a desk all day and don't talk to anyone. You will be responding to email, answering phone calls, attending meetings, and spending time on the shop floor as needed. It is a high energy position.
• This is NOT a job where you exclusively create 2D CAD drawings. Alcobra CAD professionals are expected to learn the ins and outs of each machine on the floor, and will learn how to set up and operate them in order to better understand and improve workflow processes.
• This is NOT a job that permits workflow shortcuts. You are expected to adhere to strict QC processes, and when asked, offer input on updating or changing them.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
