CAD DRAFTSMAN (Land Survey) - with GIS Expertise

Good day, we are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CAD Draftsman with 3 to 5 years of specialized experience in land survey drafting. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in processing topographic survey data, producing precise As-Built drawings, and managing spatial data within Geographic Information Systems (GIS). You will be responsible for transforming raw field survey data into accurate, clear, and compliant technical drawings that are critical for engineering design, planning, and project completion.

Key Responsibilities

1. Survey Drafting and Detailing:

Process and manage raw field data from GPS, Total Stations, and Laser Scanners to create detailed topographic survey maps.

Draft accurate boundary surveys, contour maps, site plans, and utility layouts.

Prepare precise As-Built drawings that reflect the final constructed conditions of projects, ensuring they match field verification data.

Calculate earthwork volumes, areas, and quantities based on survey data.

2. GIS Management and Mapping:

Create, edit, and manage spatial data in GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS).

Develop and maintain GIS databases for various projects, integrating survey data with other geographic layers.

Produce thematic maps for analysis and reporting purposes.

Ensure data integrity and standardization across all GIS and CAD platforms.

3. Software Proficiency and Technical Execution:

Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation extensively to generate all engineering and survey drawings.

Apply standard drafting procedures and adhere to company and Qatari authority layering standards, text styles, and dimensioning.

Coordinate with Land Surveyors and Engineers to resolve discrepancies between design and field conditions.

4. Quality Assurance and Compliance:

Perform self-checks on all work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.

Ensure all drawings and models meet the requirements of local Qatari authorities (e.g., Ashghal, MMUP, etc.).

Maintain organized electronic and hard copy filing systems for all drawings, data, and project-related documents.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

Diploma in Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Experience:

3 to 5 years of proven experience as a Draftsman, specifically within a Land Surveying department or company.

Must have a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in topographic mapping and As-Built drawing production.

GCC experience, particularly in Qatar, is highly desirable due to familiarity with local standards.

Technical Skills (Mandatory):

CAD Software: Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (primary) and/or MicroStation.

GIS Software: Practical working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro) or QGIS.

Survey Knowledge: Solid understanding of land survey principles, terminology, data collection methods (GPS, Total Stations), and coordinate systems.

As-Built Expertise: Proven ability to produce accurate and reliable As-Built documentation.

Technical Skills (Preferred):

Basic knowledge of BIM processes.

Experience with point cloud processing software (e.g., Leica Cyclone, Trimble Business Center).

Familiarity with 3D modeling for earthworks and surfaces.

Soft Skills:

Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Excellent time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with surveyors, engineers, and project managers.

Fluent in English. Knowledge of Arabic is advantageous but not mandatory.

Working Conditions

Primarily an office-based role.

Standard working hours, but may require overtime to meet project deadlines.

Occasional site visits may be required for verification purposes.
