Café Experience Team Member

West Wood Coffee and Social is looking for a versatile and enthusiastic full-time team member to join our growing team! As a cozy café and small restaurant with an expanding lunch menu, we’re seeking someone adaptable, eager to learn, and excited to grow with us in both kitchen and café operations.

Position:
Full-Time

Schedule:
Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
(Weekend and occasional special event availability may be required)

Wages:
$10–$13 per hour + tips, depending on experience

Position Overview

This hybrid role blends kitchen and barista responsibilities. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, can move seamlessly between back-of-house and front-of-house duties, and is committed to delivering high-quality food, beverages, and customer experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Kitchen Duties:

  • Pre-prep ingredients and assist with daily kitchen setup
  • Bake and cook menu items, including breakfast and lunch offerings
  • Prepare, cook, plate, and serve food in a timely and consistent manner
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen workspace
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health protocols
  • Assist with dishwashing and kitchen cleanup as needed

Barista & Front-of-House Duties:

  • Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages to standard
  • Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Take accurate orders and operate POS system (Toast preferred)
  • Maintain cleanliness of café, equipment, and seating areas
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate restocking needs

General & Team Support:

  • Adapt quickly between kitchen and café roles throughout shifts
  • Assist customers at the register and during service
  • Support daytime operations and occasional events
  • Work collaboratively to ensure smooth and efficient service

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in food service, barista work, or kitchen prep preferred
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and handle multiple roles during a shift
  • Good time management in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic math skills for cash handling
  • Knowledge of food safety practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
  • Positive attitude and team mindset
  • Passion for food, coffee, and hospitality
