Cafe Attendant

Position Summary

The Demakes Family YMCA is seeking experienced, dependable, and energetic to join our team as a Cafe Attendant & Server. This position is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages while providing outstanding customer service in a safe, welcoming, and community-focused environment. Staff must have prior food service experience and uphold high food safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and serve guests in a friendly and professional manner
• Prepare coffee, beverages, and light café items according to established guidelines
• Operate POS system and handle cash transactions accurately
• Review café inventory and report café needs
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of café, kitchen, and service areas
• Monitor proper food storage and temperature controls
• Follow all local and state health department regulations
• Complete opening and closing duties as assigned
• Support the YMCA mission by promoting a positive and inclusive atmosphere

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years of food service experience (restaurant, café, catering, or similar)
• Valid ServSafe Certification (required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
