Cake Decorator

JOB PURPOSE

The Cake Decorator is responsible for preparing/baking cake, pastries and decorative items promptly, under close supervision, while ensuring full adherence to the set quality, hygiene, and presentation standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensures at the beginning of the shift that the required products for his/ her service station are available in accordance with the established par level, and initiates orders for necessary items from the internal store.
• Participates in the opening and closing duties of the pastry in compliance with the norms and internal procedures. Assists in stocking and receiving goods as required.
• Prepares quality cake and pastry items as per the outlined recipes, the HACCP standards, the portion control practices, and the items’ presentation guidelines then distributes prepared orders to the various outlets.
• Ensures sanitation of workstation at all times during the shift by cleaning the fridge, shelves and counter, sharpening knives and cleaning utensils upon end of the shift.
• Adheres to established rules and regulations for security, fire safety, and general safety procedures, and promptly reports any incidents to the hierarchy.
• Checks the shelf life of products, labels each item with its production and expiry date, monitors, and communicates on wasted product figures.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of product and food items to answer any inquiries and to offer insights when necessary.

LANGUAGE & TECHNICAL SKILLS

Language Proficiency

• Fluency in English.
• Knowledge of baking and icing techniques
• Creativity and artistic flair
• Knowledge in Fondant Cake decorating is a must

EDUCATION

High school degree.

Technical diploma is a plus.

At least 1 year in the same role.
