CAM Engineering Technologist - 3D Modeling & Fabrication Design
Pay Rate: $25/hour
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Overtime available on weekends)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CAM Engineering Technologist to design offshore and onshore oil and gas structures. This role requires advanced proficiency in 3D modeling software and the ability to lead a team in producing fabrication-level drawings that meet industry standards and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities Design & Modeling
- Create detailed 3D models for offshore and onshore oil and gas structures using industry-standard software
- Lead the team in delivering accurate, fabrication-ready drawings
- Produce fabrication-level drawings in strict accordance with customer requirements and company specifications
- Develop efficient processes and methodologies to ensure error-free models and drawings
Technical Leadership
- Lead and mentor team members in 3D modeling tools and structural design concepts
- Provide guidance to code signers on technical standards and best practices
- Drive continuous improvement in modeling techniques and drawing production workflows
Project Coordination
- Communicate and collaborate with regional offices, multiple engineering disciplines, and fabrication teams
- Manage projects from initiation through installation phases
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution
Team & Schedule Management
- Manage team members and delegate tasks effectively
- Prioritize workload and schedule tasks to meet project deadlines
- Deliver high-quality output with precision and attention to detail
Required Qualifications
- Proven proficiency with 3D modeling software including:
- TEKLA Structures
- PDMS (Plant Design Management System)
- CADWorx
- Strong experience designing structures for the oil and gas industry (offshore and/or onshore)
- Demonstrated ability to produce fabrication-level drawings
- Experience leading technical teams and managing project deliverables
- Strong understanding of structural engineering concepts and fabrication processes
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to mentor and develop technical staff
- Strong organizational and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with offshore platform design
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards (API, AISC, AWS, etc.)
- Background in structural engineering or related technical field
- Experience working directly with fabrication shops
Work Environment
- Office/design studio environment
- Standard Monday-Friday schedule with potential weekend overtime as needed
