Light + Bark Candle Co. is a small-batch candle company located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. We create thoughtfully crafted, eco-conscious candles using 100% soy wax, cotton wicks and toxin-free fragrances — all hand-poured with care and purpose. A portion of every purchase supports dog rescues and shelters, so every candle truly does a little good.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a part-time Production Manager to keep our studio humming, our candles pouring, and our clients happy. This role blends hands-on production with creative collaboration and project management. You’ll help ensure every candle that leaves our studio meets our high standards for quality, beauty, and heart, and you’ll play a key role in keeping projects and people on track.

This position is approximately 40% candle production and 60% project management and communication. You’ll pour, label, and package all of our candles, oversee production assistants during larger runs and busier times, and manage private label and wholesale projects from start to finish. Day to day you will also be responsible for studio cleanliness and operations, and work closely with the founder on product development and creative growth opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Production + Operations

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure efficiency and quality standards are met (primarily of hand-poured candles, but may also include wax melts, room sprays, diffusers, etc.)
  • Develop and implement production plans to meet deadlines and to optimize workflow and resource allocation
  • Maintain studio organization, cleanliness, safety, and inventory of supplies and finished goods
  • Monitor production processes, identifying areas for process improvement
  • Oversee production assistants during larger runs or special projects
  • Place and track production supply orders, and maintain vendor relationships

Project + Client Management

  • Serve as the point of contact for private label and wholesale clients
  • Manage quotes, pricing, invoicing and cost-of-goods spreadsheets
  • Track timelines, communicate project updates, and coordinate approvals
  • Manage packaging, shipping, delivery and/or pickup of completed orders
  • Maintain records for production volume, materials and order tracking

Creative Collaboration

  • Partner with the founder on scent development, packaging design and new product launches
  • Participate in product testing and feedback for burn performance and scent quality
  • Offer creative input on brand visuals, packaging and presentation

Qualifications

Required Skills + Experience

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Clear communication skills and professionalism with clients and team members
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude
  • Basic comfort with spreadsheets and pricing calculations
  • Experience with Google Drive (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Calendar)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods of time

Preferred Skills + Experience

  • Experience in small-batch production, boutique retail, or creative operations
  • Familiarity with tools like Canva, Shopify, Asana (or other project management tools), and Faire
  • Background in managing client communications or creative projects
  • Experience with wholesale business
  • An authentic love for candles, scent, stories and details

Schedule & Environment

  • In-person at our Old Town Scottsdale studio
  • Part-time, 25–35 hours per week, typically Monday–Friday (hours can be somewhat flexible, but consistent)
