Job Description

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To support both the colleagues and leaders of Raffles Salon in achieving the highest quality of service and standards and improving the level of guest satisfaction through positive engagement and communication.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the LQA service standards as required for the Outlet.
  • Read daily reports, hotel updates and acknowledge any VIP arrivals, reporting to shift 10 minutes before start time and communicating any delays in advance.
  • Know all Food & Beverage menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods and be able to relay that information to guests politely and concisely.
  • Present children's menus, describe specials and alternative cuisine.
  • Serve and clear food and beverage items unobtrusively and professionally using tray and appropriate service ware.
  • Utilize the POS system to ring up sales, print checks, close checks and complete cash out procedures.
  • Carry trays, bus and reset tables with linen, chinaware, glassware and silverware.
  • Ascertain guests' satisfaction, handle problems and inform the Supervisor/Manager of the resolution.
  • Follow cash and credit card procedures per the accounting department guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, neat and orderly restaurant throughout service.
  • Polish cutlery and refill salt, pepper, sugar and creamers.
  • Operate the coffee machine to make specialty coffees/teas.
  • Serve non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks.
  • Ensure the workstation is stocked with appropriate condiments at all times.
  • Report guest comments regarding food and beverage to management.
  • Maintain and handle operating equipment with care.
  • Adhere to safety, sanitation, HACCP and hygiene policies.
  • Maintain good working relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Know all F&B services, outlets and hotel features.
  • Perform opening/closing duties and set all tables according to standards.
  • Report deviations from standards and procedures to manager.
  • Keep service and storage areas safe and clean.
  • Minimize waste, breakages and mishandling of supplies and equipment.
  • Carry out cleaning and maintenance of the outlet.
  • Notify Supervisor/Manager at least four hours prior to shift if unable to attend due to illness.
  • Assist other Food & Beverage outlets during peak hours or extended shifts as needed.
  • Support management in supervising operations to maintain service standards.
  • Assist Supervisor/Manager with daily shift briefings and information dissemination.
  • Provide colleague training, act as a role model, and lead by example.
  • Use Raffles Dubai operating systems.
  • Conduct beverage and equipment inventories, ensuring no variances.
  • Perform trainer tasks and conduct staff training as assigned.
  • Use a hands on approach to develop employees and demonstrate team building.
  • Understand management goals and work towards achieving them.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications - Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in English.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to multitask and extensive wine and cuisine knowledge.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Courteous and helpful to colleagues and guests.
  • Experienced in all aspects of restaurant service.
  • Well presented and professionally groomed at all times.
  • Trainer with solid motivational and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Able to perform all tasks accurately and efficiently.

Qualifications - Education:

  • Secondary education.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of hotel experience with at least 1 year in a 5 star luxury operation.
  • Knowledgeable in food and beverage service standards and up selling skills.
  • High awareness of maintaining 5 star standards.
  • Knowledgeable in Micros and Opera systems and cashiering process.
