Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Cardiology Medical Assistant to support our cardiology department in providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical support roles, with experience in outpatient and inpatient settings, and familiarity with cardiology-specific procedures. This role involves assisting physicians with patient intake, vital signs, EHR documentation, and supporting diagnostic procedures within a fast-paced clinical environment. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare setting, contributing to patient health outcomes and clinical efficiency.
Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients for cardiology evaluations, including vitals, medical history updates, medication reconciliation, and symptom review.
- Perform chart preparation for all scheduled patients, ensuring diagnostics, prior cardiology notes, imaging, and labs are organized and ready for provider review.
- Conduct EKGs and assist with other in-office cardiac diagnostic procedures as permitted.
- Set up and assist with stress testing (treadmill or pharmacologic), Holter monitor placement, event monitors, and blood pressure monitoring devices.
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed.
- Serve as a medical scribe during patient visits, documenting histories, exam findings, assessments, and plans directly into the EHR on behalf of the provider.
- Provide patient education on cardiac procedures, lifestyle recommendations, and device instructions.
- Document all clinical findings and interventions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Maintain exam room cleanliness, stocking, and equipment readiness.
Administrative Duties
- Schedule patient appointments, tests, and follow-up visits.
- Verify insurance, manage referrals, and obtain necessary authorizations for cardiac testing.
- Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and prescription refill requests.
- Coordinate medical records, imaging results, and outside reports for continuity of care.
- Support front-office functions when necessary, including check-in and check-out.
Requirements
- Prior experience in medical settings such as hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine is preferred
- Knowledge of cardiology-specific procedures and physiology is highly desirable
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical terminology essential
- Experience with ICD coding, medication administration, vital signs collection, and patient intake processes necessary
- Knowledge of anatomy related to cardiology, Geriatrics, Medical-surgical care, Internal medicine preferred
- Hospital experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as urgent care or emergency medicine settings
- Strong patient service skills with excellent communication abilities

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
