Cardiology Scribe/Gap Year Externship

Cardiovascular Center of Tampa announces the availability of two Externship positions for recent BS graduates who seek to enhance their hands-on experience while preparing for MD/DO or PA careers. As a scribe you will closely observe in-office medical care while recording physician actions into patient records. We have an excellent record of former scribes/externs using their experience here to enhance their graduate school applications.

Job Summary
We are seeking motivated individuals who are seeking an edge in the MD/DO/PA application process via hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare environment. As an extern, you will work closely with experienced professionals, enhancing your skills in medical documentation, patient care, and office operations. This role is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing a career in healthcare and looking to apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the transcription of medical documents and patient records.
• Support practicing physicians, ensuring efficient workflow.
• Utilize eClinical Works and Hospital Electronic Medical Records to manage patient information accurately.
• Maintain and organize medical documentation
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to gain insights into patient care processes.
• Apply knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology in practical scenarios.
• Participate in various tasks related to patient intake and record management.

Requirements

• Familiarity with transcription practices and medical documentation processes.
• Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in using EMR and EHR systems is a plus.
• Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
• Excellent typing skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining professionalism.
