- Performing diagnostic tests: Conduct a variety of non-invasive cardiovascular tests, such as EKGs, Holter monitors, stress tests, and echocardiograms, using electronic equipment.
- Equipment management: Ensure all diagnostic equipment is in proper working order by performing routine maintenance, calibration, and quality control checks.
- Patient care and communication: Prepare patients for tests, explain procedures in a way they can understand, provide comfort and reassurance, and monitor their vital signs during tests.
- Data analysis and recording: Review test results, identify irregularities, and maintain accurate and detailed patient records, often using electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Physician and team collaboration: Communicate findings and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff to assist in developing treatment plans and ensuring comprehensive patient care.
- Procedure assistance: In some settings, assist cardiologists during invasive procedures like cardiac catheterization.
- Patient education: Educate patients on the importance of maintaining a healthy heart and lifestyle.
