Cardiothoracic PA – First Assist | 2 Days/Week | No Call | VA Contract | $160/hr

This is a fantastic opportunity to work just 2 days per week in a high-acuity cardiothoracic surgery program serving Veterans - no call, no weekends, and full-scope first assist responsibilities. No California license is required, making this a rare and accessible opportunity in San Francisco.

Georgia Medical Staffing is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant with EVH and OR first assist experience to provide at least 1 year of part-time coverage with the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System.

Position Highlights

• $160/hour
• Part Time - two days/week, 6 hours/day
• No Call or Weekends
• 1 Year Contract with Extension Opportunities

• Contract Dates: 05/01/2026 - 04/30/2027

Procedures

• OR First Assist
• EVH (Endoscopic Radial & Saphenous Vein Harvesting)
• Robotic thoracic surgery as bedside first assist
• First Assisting off pump coronary artery bypass grafting with multi-arterial grafting and use of Medistim flow probes
• Second Assisting Ross operations, valve sparing aortic root replacements, minimally invasive aortic root enlargements, aortic arch, and frozen elephant trunk operations
• Ultrasound Guided Arterial and Venous Access for Central Line Placement
• Chest Tube and Pigtail Insertion and Removal
• Insertion and Removal of Swan-Ganz Catheter
• Removal of Pacing Wires

Requirements:

• Active, Unencumbered United States Physician Assistant License
• Board Certification
• BLS
• ACLS
• 3+ years of experience as a CTPA is required
• Advanced case experience strongly preferred
• Clean Malpractice History & Criminal Record
