Role Purpose:
To manage patients for whom he/she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of
care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by providing support services for patients
undergoing procedures in Cath Lab, under the supervision of Consultant Cardiologists.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides support services necessary for the care, diagnosis and treatments of patients undergoing various
procedures in the Cath. Lab.
2. Setups and prepares the lab and necessary equipment & supplies for left and right heart catheterizations,
diagnostic coronary & peripheral angiography, coronary & peripheral interventions, balloon valvuloplasties,
EPS, ablations, pacemaker, CRT-D implantations, IVUS, FFR, IFR, Rot ablator, Impella, drug studies and other
special procedures.
3. Tests all equipment used for procedures. Ensure accurate calibration, functioning and quality assurance.
4. Operates intra-aortic balloon pump, Cardiac Output Computer, pulse generators or any other necessary
equipment under the direction of the immediate supervisor and physician.
5. Monitors and records patient's vital signs and hemodynamic data during procedures, calculations, and
alerts physician to any abnormality.
6. Provides physicians with pertinent patient data. Preps for catheterization procedures which include setup
and evaluation of monitoring equipments, surgical scrub to the puncture site. Assist during procedures
under physician's direction, when required.
7. Performs blood sample analysis including blood gases, oxygen saturation, hemoglobin, hematocrit and
activated clotting time.
8. Administers oxygen under physician's direction to the patient when needed.
9. Performs CPR when necessary under the direction of physician.
10. Assists in the storage and retrieval of all data.
11. Assists the physicians in research studies and testing of new equipments and products.
12. Fills out appropriate paperwork to assure accurate hospital billing.
13. Receiving and transferring patients from and to their Unit.
14. Patients and Inventory management as required.
15. Do inventory and statistics as per necessary requirement from the immediate supervisor.
16. Circulating and scrubbing during the different procedures, including medication preparation and
administration.
17. Do other tasks and responsibilities when assigned or delegated by the immediate supervisor.
18. Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the Hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit
of Standards of Care, Quality/ Performance Improvement.
19. Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the
Chief of Cardiac Cath. Lab.
Education and Certification Requirements:
Bachelor degree in CVT, BSN, or any related field or allied health
professional.
SCFHS License in Cardiovascular as technician
