Role Purpose:
To manage patients for whom he/she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by producing images of heart muscle and functioning by setting-up equipment and related responsibilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares for examinations by checking equipment and inventorying and restocking supplies; reviewing patient schedules; reading physician orders for specific examinations; setting-up recording equipment; entering patient information into system.
Reduces patient anxieties by explaining procedures; answering questions; providing assistance to examination table or treadmill.
Prepare patients by positioning patients; spreading gel; attaching electrodes to chest and equipment; adjusting equipment control; verifying wave signals.
Obtains quality images by positioning and repositioning transducer; monitoring display screen; listening to signal; adjusting equipment for beam strength and focus; detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities; recording images.
Records examination information by printing graphics and data; calculating measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity; comparing measurements to norms.
Protects patients by adhering to safety policies and protocols.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential; continuing other regarding potential breaches.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the Hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality/Performance Improvement.
Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Cardiology.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Industry / Domain: Healthcare
Necessary Knowledge and Experience:
Essential: At least three (3) years of practical experience.
Education and Certification Requirements:
Essential: BSc in Nursing and course training in Echocardiography.
Skills:
Essential:
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of employees.
Sufficient knowledge of spoken and written English Language to communicate with patients and to read instructions in English.
Must be able to explain test procedures to patients and to reassure those who express fear of strange instruments used in testing.
Maintain personal cleanliness and professional manner toward patients.
Must be composed and be able to respond quickly when any emergency Echocardiography study is ordered in the Emergency or Operating Room.
