Cardiovascular Technologist

Role Purpose:
To manage patients for whom he/she is responsible to the highest attainable standard of care within the resources of Dallah Hospital by producing images of heart muscle and functioning by setting-up equipment and related responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepares for examinations by checking equipment and inventorying and restocking supplies; reviewing patient schedules; reading physician orders for specific examinations; setting-up recording equipment; entering patient information into system.

• Reduces patient anxieties by explaining procedures; answering questions; providing assistance to examination table or treadmill.

• Prepare patients by positioning patients; spreading gel; attaching electrodes to chest and equipment; adjusting equipment control; verifying wave signals.

• Obtains quality images by positioning and repositioning transducer; monitoring display screen; listening to signal; adjusting equipment for beam strength and focus; detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities; recording images.

• Records examination information by printing graphics and data; calculating measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity; comparing measurements to norms.

• Protects patients by adhering to safety policies and protocols.

• Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential; continuing other regarding potential breaches.

• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks participating in professional organizations.

• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

• Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the Hospital’s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality/Performance Improvement.

• Participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.

• Performs any other duties within the range of his/her professional knowledge and skills as directed by the Head of Cardiology.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Industry / Domain: Healthcare

Necessary Knowledge and Experience:
Essential: At least three (3) years of practical experience.

Education and Certification Requirements:
Essential: BSc in Nursing and course training in Echocardiography.

Skills:
Essential:

• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of employees.

• Sufficient knowledge of spoken and written English Language to communicate with patients and to read instructions in English.

• Must be able to explain test procedures to patients and to reassure those who express fear of strange instruments used in testing.

• Maintain personal cleanliness and professional manner toward patients.

• Must be composed and be able to respond quickly when any emergency Echocardiography study is ordered in the Emergency or Operating Room.
