In your first year with TI, you will participate in the Career Accelerator Program (CAP), which provides professional and technical training and resources to accelerate your ramp into TI, and set you up for long-term career success. The TMG Development program is a 12-month program for new college graduates in the TMG organization.

As a Test Engineer in the DLP (Digital Light Processing) group, you will support the mechanical design and sustaining of custom automation systems that enable ATE Test capability for DLP. Design areas include mechanical component design, integration of sensors/actuators/controllers/motors, power and safety system integration, and technical documentation for equipment assembly and troubleshooting.

The focus of this role is the development and support of DLP’s custom manufacturing equipment for the handling and optical inspection of the DMD (Digital Micromirror Device). Including:

  • Development and support of all mechatronic subsystems (pneumatic & motorized motion control systems, power & safety, sensor networks, conveyor and pick and place automation, etc)
  • Working with the DLP Package Design team to develop hardware kits required to support DMD package development
  • Working with Electrical, Software, and Optical design teams to develop and test new system capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical component design via CAD, including tolerance analysis, manufacturability, fabrication and assembly drawings
  • Technical documentation supporting the assembly, maintenance and troubleshooting of DLP Test equipment
  • Prototype development and testing of components to address obsolescence and enable new performance and automation features
  • Working closely with the manufacturing team to support DLP Test equipment, including the deployment of new systems and troubleshooting of production problems

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics
  • Fundamental knowledge of basic electronics, mechanics and mechatronics

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with automation system development and writing technical documentation (machine assembly, troubleshooting, PMs, etc)
  • Competent with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Programming experience for automation equipment (e.g., G-code, M-code, robotics programming, etc)
  • Troubleshooting experience on electrical/mechanical systems
  • Self-driven with ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
