Job description:

To serve as the primary liaison for students in areas related to employability, internships, career readiness, and alumni relations. The role is designed to enhance students’ transition from university to the workforce by providing tailored support, resources, and opportunities, while also cultivating a strong and active alumni network to support mentoring and career development initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities

Career Readiness & Employability

  • Designs and delivers workshops, seminars, and one-on-one sessions on CV writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and workplace readiness
  • Collaborates with academic departments to integrate career development into the student experience
  • Maintains and update career resources and digital platforms for student use

Internship Coordination

  • Develops and manage partnerships with local and international employers to secure internship opportunities
  • Supports students through the internship application process, including preparation and follow-up
  • Monitors and evaluates internship experiences to ensure quality and relevance

Alumni Engagement

  • Builds and maintains a dynamic alumni database and communication strategy with internal departments
  • Organises alumni networking events, panels, and mentorship programmes
  • Facilitates alumni involvement in student development initiatives and career talks

Partnership Development

  • Actively engages with local organisations, NGOs, and industry partners to expand opportunities for students
  • Represents the university in external meetings and events related to student development and employability

Data & Reporting

  • Tracks student engagement, internship placements, and alumni participation
  • Prepares regular reports and impact assessments for internal stakeholders

Other roles:

  • The candidate is expected to assist with all other tasks and responsibilities related to the Student Affairs department as needed, contributing to the overall support and success of student engagement and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferable in Business Administration or Human Resources
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in student affairs, career services, or alumni relations

Experience:

  • Experience working in higher education or with youth development programmes is highly desirable
  • Experience in customer service, event coordination, administrative functions, career advisory roles and recruitment
