Under the supervision and guidance of Therapists, engages or assists with patients where appropriate. This may include e.g.: reading, playing, conducting therapy sessions etc . Patients should never be seen alone by the Therapy Caregiver at any time.
Supports the therapy staff by running errands where appropriate, which includes purchasing of stationary and group related items.
Responsible for assisting with stocks and inventory (splinting supplies, consumables, etc).
Assists therapists on external trips when required; including home access visits with the Occupational Therapist
Participates in social activities which are patient related under the direction of a therapist.
Assisting with the setup of therapy sessions as directed by the therapist. This will include arranging times, cancellations as well as the necessary equipment.
Assisting with conducting groups – setup and planning should be done in conjunction with the therapist who will direct the therapy caregiver’s responsibilities.
Administrative tasks - scanning and filing evaluations of therapists as well as keeping a database of due dates for upcoming re-evaluations.
Responsible for checking and completing the following checklists: First Aid Kit; Environmental Control Checklist; Equipment Maintenance Checklist, etc.
Therapy records and reports folder updates – To be responsible for ensuring that the therapy records folder/tracker is up to date with all evaluations.
Other administrative duties as requested by Therapists: this may include photocopying, scanning and submission of reports to Medical Records department.
Assist with planning and organizing therapy related or other events eg: open day training sessions, etc.
Ensure that therapy areas are kept neat and orderly. Take charge for ensuring that areas are cleaned and the checklists completed by the cleaning staff
