Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate CAREGIVER TRAINER/HR ASSISTANT to join our dedicated team. This vital role combines hands-on training of caregiving staff with essential human resources support to ensure our caregivers are well-prepared, confident, and compliant with industry standards. Duties
- Develop, implement, and deliver comprehensive training programs for new and existing caregivers, focusing on patient observation, ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), medication administration, HIPAA compliance, and emergency procedures such as CPR and first aid.
- Conduct hands-on training sessions covering specialized care areas including Alzheimer’s care, dementia management, memory care, hospice support, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Assist in creating and updating individualized care plans tailored to residents’ needs while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
- Monitor caregiver performance through direct supervision, patient observation, and feedback collection to maintain high-quality care delivery.
- Support HR functions by assisting with recruitment efforts, onboarding new staff, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies including HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate ongoing education opportunities for staff to stay current on best practices in senior care, home health services, assisted living procedures, and social work principles.
- Oversee compliance with safety protocols such as heavy lifting techniques using Hoyer lifts, vital signs monitoring, medication safety procedures, and infection control including cleaning standards.
- Facilitate communication between caregivers and management regarding resident updates, incident reports, and care adjustments.
- Promote a positive team environment by encouraging collaboration and professional development among staff members.
Experience
- Proven experience in group home settings or assisted living facilities with a focus on senior or long-term care.
- Extensive background working with people with disabilities—including developmental disabilities and autism—and familiarity with specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care techniques.
- Hands-on experience in patient monitoring, vital signs measurement, medication administration, and implementing care plans aligned with healthcare regulations.
- Prior roles involving direct support or nursing duties within home health or hospice environments are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Experience utilizing equipment such as Hoyer lifts for safe resident transfers and performing heavy lifting tasks as required in caregiving scenarios.
- Strong understanding of social work principles related to eldercare and disability support services.
- Certification in CPR, first aid, and other relevant healthcare certifications is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary certifications is expected.
