Caregiver/Direct Support Worker

Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Workers in Franklin, LA to provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and those requiring assistance in their daily lives. This role involves working closely with clients in various settings, including group homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve while ensuring their safety and well-being.

Shifts: Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm; Sunday: 8:00am-7:30 PM; 7 days on 7 days off; transportation is a must.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
• Provide patient observation and monitoring to ensure the health and safety of clients.
• Support individuals with developmental disabilities, including those with autism and Alzheimer’s disease, through direct support and engagement.
• Administer medications as prescribed and assist in the implementation of care plans.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
• Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
• Assist with mobility needs using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
• Document vital signs and report any changes in client condition to appropriate personnel.
• Uphold HIPAA regulations to protect client confidentiality and privacy.

Experience
Candidates should possess experience or skills in the following areas:

• First aid and CPR certification is preferred.
• Previous experience in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health care settings is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with caregiving for individuals with dementia or memory care needs is beneficial.
• Experience working with people with disabilities or providing hospice care is a plus.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for patient mobility assistance. Pay: $9.00 - $12.00 per hour
