Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Assistant Caregiver to provide high-quality support and assistance to individuals in need of personal care services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with daily living activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence in a respectful and caring manner. Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and observe patients for any changes in condition or behavior, documenting observations accurately
- Administer medications and manage care plans in accordance with healthcare protocols
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and preferences
- Support clients with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or other assistive devices
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping and sanitation tasks
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Assist with vital signs monitoring, including blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates
- Support clients with specialized needs such as dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or developmental disabilities
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans effectively
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards during patient care activities
Requirements
- Prior experience in assisted living, home health, hospice care, or long-term care preferred; group home experience is a plus
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including first aid, CPR, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges such as autism or dementia
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary and operate assistive devices like Hoyer lifts safely
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and safety assessment
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid required; additional certifications in nursing or social work are advantageous
- Ability to maintain confidentiality following HIPAA regulations
- Compassionate attitude with patience for working with seniors or individuals with complex care needs
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed; experience in home & community care highly desirable
