Job Summary:
The
Cargo Controller
is responsible for organizing and managing container-related documentation and data flow between vessel and line agents, ensuring accurate and timely finalization of loading and discharge lists in compliance with port procedures. This role involves detailed data verification, system updates, and communication with multiple stakeholders. Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work with Microsoft Office tools are essential for success in this position. The Cargo Controller also supports invoicing processes and contributes to smooth terminal operations through effective coordination and record-keeping.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor
EDI file submission statuses
; identify and correct errors or rejections by coordinating with agents

Ensure seamless processing of
BAPLIE
and
Manifest files
through the
CTMS (Container Terminal Management System)
-
Work closely with the CTMS team to resolve any file processing issues or delays
-
Respond promptly to
email communications
and follow up as needed
-
Identify and resolve
discrepancies
between summaries from vessel agents and container lists from line agents
-
Finalize container discharge and loading lists through detailed comparison and cross-checking of all input sources

Update CTMS with verified
container status information
-
Archive all relevant documents (e.g.,
load permits, final lists
) into the appropriate vessel files
-
Monitor and update statuses on the
miscellaneous service request screen
-
Process and implement changes to
container attributes
as requested by agents; inform relevant departments (e.g., billing, output, CFS)
-
Submit the final list of containers to the
Planning Department
within defined timeframes
-
Enforce
cut-off time compliance
; place holds on non-compliant containers and notify agents accordingly
-
Coordinate with Planning and Customer Service teams to generate and maintain
cut-off reports
-
Process
list transfer requests
and ensure accurate application of associated charges

Inform supervisors of
line/port mapping
needs for BAPLIE file processing

Attend to
customer queries
related to vessel documentation and ensure timely resolution
-
Ensure that all
UNLOC (UN port codes)
are up to date in the system

Liaise with internal departments to resolve issues impacting
list finalization
-
Cross-check
vessel finalization documents
with tally sheets before submission to finance for invoicing

Maintain
safety

compliance with HSE policies
and safe work practices
Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

Experience:

1–2 years of experience in data entry or documentation roles

Preferably in a
container port terminal
or maritime operations environment

Education:

Secondary or Higher Secondary School Certificate

Technical Skills:

Proficient in
Microsoft Office Suite
(Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation and reporting

Familiarity with
CTMS
or similar terminal systems
