The Caribbean Development Lead (CDL) is responsible for directing all aspects of Caribbean Division’s development functions to secure significant financial resources from individuals, foundations, and corporations to support urgent conservation goals. They identify key challenges, develop and synthesize plans of action, and deliver targeted outcomes. The CDL is responsible for recruiting, developing, and retaining high-performing frontline development staff and nurturing effective collaboration with a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team providing development operations support. The CDL reports to the Director of Regional Strategic Development within Global Development with a dotted line to the Executive Director of the Caribbean Division; they serve on the Caribbean Division's leadership team.

The Caribbean Development Lead will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the program by conceiving, developing, and managing plans and strategies. They focus on long-range strategic priorities, advance the Conservancy’s goals, and communicate a broad vision to others. They establish and monitors activity level benchmarks and measures of success. They manage the development and implementation of a strategic, integrated, and collaborative approach to maximize success, including organizing communications. They facilitate strategic dialogues with clients and senior-level stakeholders, probing to identify key issues and requirements, negotiating and developing solutions, and synthesizing a plan of action tailored to audience. They will direct diverse activities, develop complex practices and processes, project outcomes, and initiate changes in order to improve effectiveness. They manage priority vendor relationships. The CDL works closely with and manages relations with key stakeholders including senior management, internal teams, donors, and volunteers to achieve program goals. They are responsible for presenting analysis and recommendations to the Caribbean Trustees.

The CDL will be responsible for directly managing a portfolio of 40-75 prospects and donors with the capacity to give over $750,000 once the portfolio is developed, including select Trustee relationships. In addition, the CDL will manage additional relationships with Caribbean-interested prospects and donors as a team member in partnership with relationship managers across the TNC network. They will travel frequently, both domestically and internationally, and sometimes on short notice. The role will from time to time require long hours and weekend work or travel.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience working in a large, complex, not-for-profit environment.

  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles, practices, and procedures of relevant field.

Salary Information:

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $147,645 - $187,560. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
