Carpenter

Job Summary:
The carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures made from wood, plywood, and other materials, according to specifications. This role requires precise craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints or plans. The carpenter will work on a variety of construction projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Key Responsibilities: Construction and Installation:

• Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials such as wood, drywall, plywood, and other building materials.
• Construct frameworks such as walls, floors, and doorframes.
• Install structures and fixtures like windows, doors, cabinets, shelves, and molding.
• Build and repair wood structures including stairways, rafters, partitions, and other wooden frameworks.
• Install various flooring systems, including hardwood, laminate, and subflooring.

Blueprint Interpretation:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
• Take precise measurements and calculate dimensions to ensure accurate cuts and material usage.
• Follow technical drawings and detailed instructions from supervisors or project managers.

Repair and Maintenance:

• Repair damaged structures, walls, floors, and ceilings in homes and commercial buildings.
• Replace defective or rotting wood in existing frameworks and structures.
• Ensure that all repairs meet building codes and safety regulations.

Use of Tools and Equipment:

• Operate power tools such as saws, drills, and sanders to cut, shape, and finish materials.
• Use hand tools like hammers, chisels, levels, and measuring tapes with precision.
• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and used safely.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and helmets.
• Identify and mitigate potential hazards on the job site.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience: Proven experience as a carpenter (3+ years preferred), with a strong understanding of carpentry techniques and methods.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
• Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
• Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools.
• Strong measuring and math skills for calculating dimensions and materials.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in various positions, including standing, kneeling, and lifting heavy materials.
• Physically fit to handle the demands of construction work (lifting, climbing, etc.).

Working Conditions:

• Working outdoors and indoors on construction sites, sometimes in inclement weather.
• Full-time position; may involve overtime or weekend work, depending on project deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED1,000.00 - AED3,000.00 per month
