Job Title: Construction Carpenter

Reports To: Production Supervisor









SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the production as needed – General carpentry duties will vary by project, but specific responsibilities may include but are not limited to maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing, and finishing of remodeling and construction projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications

  • Reads and comprehends instructions and correspondence; asks appropriate questions and performs the instructed task.
  • Effectively and respectfully communicates with supervisor and coworkers in verbal and written formats.

Documentation

  • Completes and submits daily labor tickets as required.
  • Completes all required documentation in a coherent, legible and timely manner.

Leadership

  • Acts in a respectful manner to clients, coworkers and supervisors.
  • Reports mistakes and/or potential problems to appropriate staff.
  • Demonstrates a desire to progress in the company by taking initiative and assuming additional responsibilities.
  • Travels as required.
  • Demonstrates dependability through an excellent attendance record and timeliness; works overtime as needed or required.

Production

  • Manages own time to ensure he/she remains productive.
  • Meets minimum production levels as determined by project or department lead.
  • Capable of working independently and with others.
  • Conscientious about work quality and work area neatness.

Safety and Risk Management

  • Demonstrates an appropriate concern for safety and risk management.
  • Uses appropriate safety equipment and personal protection equipment.
  • Accepts accountability for own conduct and obligations.
  • Successfully completes eight-hour OSHA training within six months of employment and annually thereafter.

Technical – General

  • Able to do repetitive work and effectively/safely use both hand and power tools.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and schematics.
  • Performs work under direct supervision and works independently when required.
  • Perform a variety or rough and finish carpentry work.
  • Assist in a variety of construction, remodeling and maintenance.

Technical – Job-Specific

  • Assists production as needed and requested.
  • Lifts, carries and moves equipment and materials.
  • Cleans work areas, machines, tools and equipment.
  • Assist in cost and material estimating.
  • Work in other trades as needed.
  • Performs routine physical tasks.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and

One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills

  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Write simple correspondence
  • Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization


Mathematical Skills

  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Compute rate, ratio, and percentages as well as draw and interpret bar graphs


Reasoning Abilities

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situation
