
Carpentry Factory - Supervisor
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage all employees
- Set and implement performance standards, including safe practices and quality standards
- Reject work that is not up to shop standards
- Establish priorities to serve the Company’s priorities priorities
- Issue daily work assignments and track progress by worker/task/project
- Assess drawings and coordinate with Manager for service delivery
- Develop and order materials list for each project
- Order and maintain store stock
- Be familiar with overall project schedule and plan for timely delivery of services
- Maintain data entry of all labor/materials and equipment
- Approve invoices and submit for payment
- Assess site conditions and recommend changes
- Maintain clean and orderly shop and equipment/tools
- Respond to emergencies
- Counsel workers regarding labor relations issues
- Research material purchases and prepare paperwork for requisitions
- Interact with faculty, suppliers and contractors
- Handle all employee disciplinary issues
- Establish schedules forecasts & track actuals to plan and Reports
- Fluency in Microsoft Project & current version of AutoCAD
- Perform feasibility studies
Requirements
- Knowledge of all construction trades with emphasis on finish carpentry.
- Must have 5- 7 years’ experience in similar roles.
- Estimating for labor and materials
- Training and guiding all employees
- Ability to counsel employees
- Understand and implement safe/compliant work practices
- Able to utilize computer systems (i.e. Work Order Management Systems & MS Project for schedules)
- Must be able to work with men, project managers and supervisors of other trades
- Must also defend the University concerning any grievance filed by the Union.
