GENERAL SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to utilize the 10 Key Components of Drug Treatment Court Programs and the National Association of Drug Court Professionals Standards to reduce recidivism associated with addiction, reduce local incarceration rates, reduce foster care placements, and reunify families through providing ongoing support, guidance, resources, problem-solving, and case management to problem-solving court participants suffering from substance use disorders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts daily or weekly face-to-face contact with participants in the community, institutions, or homes to assess program compliance, identify additional needs, problem-solve barriers to program compliance, and provide crisis intervention when necessary; communicates with treatment providers, probation officers, and involved agencies to provide client progress and updates.
- Makes appropriate referrals to treatment agencies; develops individualized treatment plans; identifies program goals and objectives; monitors implementation in a time-sensitive manner; coordinates care with involved agencies; provides probation updates; amends treatment plans as necessary.
- Composes and distributes reports containing accurate, relevant information and unbiased, critical recommendations based on the client’s progress regarding potential incarceration or community placement to the Problem-Solving Court team; determines appropriate placements considering location, length of stay, program availability, and level of care.
- Collaborates with law enforcement, attorneys, court staff, and Michigan Department of Corrections to investigate and verify alleged violations, draft bench warrants, prepare Problem-Solving Court reports, determine and recommend appropriate sanctions and continued program participation, prepare and engage in due process hearings, and testify in probation violation hearings.
- Enters and manages program data in Drug Court Case Management Information System to assist with statistical reporting to the State Court Administrator’s Office; prepares program data reports to assist the Problem-Solving Court Administrator in grant writing and reporting.
- Coordinates and leads interdisciplinary planning sessions with treatment, ancillary, legal, and corrections team members to identify and develop collaborative responses to address problematic life domains of the participants.
- Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Sociology, or a related field
- 3 to 5 years of related work experience in case management
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
