Job Description:
Berklee is looking for a compassionate, resourceful, and highly collaborative Case Manager to help our students navigate the complexities of health and wellness. In this student-centered role, you will be a vital link between students and the support they need to overcome barriers to their success. While this is not a clinical role, it requires the heart of a caregiver and the precision of a strategist to ensure no student falls through the cracks. At Berklee, your work directly supports the next generation of creative leaders.
About the Role & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Case Manager, you will work as a "navigator" for students dealing with physical and mental health challenges. You will facilitate care plans that span internal departments (like Student Affairs) and external resources (like healthcare providers and social service agencies).
Key Responsibilities:
  • 1:1 Consultation: Meet with students via walk-ins or appointments to assist them in accessing off-campus healthcare, navigating insurance, and reaching out to community providers.
  • Early Alert Response: Review "health and wellness early alerts" and coordinate outreach to students who may be struggling.
  • CARES Committee Collaboration: Work with the "Students-of-Concern" team to triage reports, coordinate follow-up plans, and maintain documentation for high-need cases.
  • Care Coordination: Assist students with the transition back to campus after hospitalizations, ensuring a comprehensive plan of care is in place with faculty, deans, and family members.
  • Crisis & Urgent Support: Facilitate support for students and families during urgent situations, acting as a calm and steady guide through complex mental and physical challenges.
  • Institutional Partnership: Collaborate closely with Housing, Community Standards, Student Success Advising, and the Equity Leadership Team to resolve complex student issues.
What You'll Bring
We are seeking a proactive professional who can balance high-level "care coordination" with the sensitivity required to handle confidential and sensitive information.
Key Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Education, or Health Sciences required (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Professional Experience: Experience in a college, university, or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with health services relevant to late adolescents and young adults, and an understanding of how to navigate health insurance.
  • Soft Skills: Superior judgment, a high level of respect for confidentiality, and a "positive attitude" even in high-pressure situations.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including parents, providers, and senior administrators.
