Job Summary

The Cashier ensures a smooth and efficient checkout experience by accurately processing customer transactions and handling cash and electronic payments. This role demands strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a welcoming environment that enhances the overall shopping experience while supporting the efficient operation of the supermarket.

Job duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Greet customers at the checkout and provide courteous, professional assistance to ensure a positive experience.
• Accurately scan and bag items, ensuring correct pricing and careful handling of fragile or perishable products.
• Process payments efficiently via cash, credit/debit cards, and other approved methods.
• Handle cash responsibly, including counting, providing accurate change, and balancing the cash drawer.
• Verify barcodes and report any discrepancies for correction.
• Maintain knowledge of store products, pricing, and promotions to assist customers effectively.
• Address inquiries and resolve complaints professionally, escalating issues to the supervisor when needed.
• Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and in line with store standards.
  
  

Required Qualification

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic numerical and cash handling skills.
• Previous experience in cashiering or retail; familiarity with POS systems preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with flexible shifts.
  
  

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years in retail, particularly handling grocery products and operating cash registers.
• Demonstrated accuracy in processing transactions, including cash, card, and mobile payments.
• Experience maintaining organized checkout and product areas to support smooth store operations.
