Position Overview:
The Cashier is responsible for managing customer billing, handling cash and card transactions, maintaining accurate sales records, and ensuring smooth store operations. This role also requires customer interaction, stock coordination with store staff, and proper record-keeping of sales and returns.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Payment Handling
Accurately process cash, card, and digital payments at checkout.
Issue invoices, receipts, refunds, and exchange bills as per policy.
Maintain daily cash float and ensure end-of-day reconciliation.
2. Customer Interaction
Greet customers warmly and handle checkout professionally.
Answer basic product-related queries (e.g., tools, ingredients, consumables).
Guide customers towards promotions, discounts, or loyalty programs.
3. Billing & Order Management
Scan items correctly and ensure accurate billing in POS system.
Verify bulk/wholesale orders and ensure invoices are properly generated.
Coordinate with stock staff to check item availability before billing bulk quantities.
4. Operational Coordination
Work closely with store staff to manage customer flow at checkout.
Push and follow up with packing staff to ensure quick checkout for large orders.
Communicate with the store supervisor for price discrepancies or barcode issues.
5. Record Keeping & Reporting
Maintain accurate daily sales records (cash, card, and credit sales).
Record returns, damaged items, or wrong billing incidents in log book/system.
Assist management with sales summaries and audit requirements.
6. Inventory & Stock Support
Nqotify the stock team when fast-moving items are low at the counter.
Record frequently returned items to highlight possible quality or labeling issues.
Ensure barcodes and pricing labels are updated on shelves and POS.
7. Compliance & Standards
Follow company SOPs for cash handling and billing.
Maintain cleanliness and organization at the cashier counter.
Ensure accurate billing for both retail and wholesale customers.
8. Team Contribution
Support colleagues during peak hours by speeding up checkout.
Provide feedback to management about customer buying patterns.
9. Qualifications and Experience:
Candidate should hold at least a Inter/Bachelor’s degree with 01-02 years of related work experience.
Should be proficient at the use of MS Office.
Good communications and interpersonal skills.
