Responsibilities

• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process transactions swiftly and securely
• Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and assist with product demonstrations when needed
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision, ensuring proper cash handling procedures are followed
• Upsell products and promote store specials to enhance sales and customer satisfaction
• Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, ensuring efficient merchandising and stocking of shelves
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism and courtesy
• Support inventory management through stock replenishment, merchandising, and product displays

Skills

• Experience with POS systems and cashiering procedures in a retail or grocery store environment
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in multiple languages (bilingual preferred)
• Proven ability to upsell products and enhance customer experience through product demos and personalized service
• Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in team settings
• Knowledge of retail math for accurate cash handling and transaction balancing
• Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries professionally over the phone
• Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for sales transactions and inventory counts
• Familiarity with grocery store operations, including stocking, merchandising, and inventory management
