Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in the day-to-day operations of the UHWO Human Resources (HR) Office by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks in support of the HR office and in compliance with applicable University policies, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal regulations.

Maintains the personnel files for all employees and safeguards confidentiality of information and files.

Ensures that documents are filed properly and in accordance with university guidelines and procedures.

Prepares inactive files for storage using a scanning program and manages data and retrieval of information.
-
Prepares files for transmittal for transferring employees.
-
Maintains and audits the I-9 files to ensure that all employee documents are up-to-date and in compliance with Federal laws. Follows-up with employees when documents require updating or reverification.

Coordinates the dissemination of information related to health benefits and other employee benefits such as Island Flex, Deferred Compensation, Tax Deferred Annuities, Workers' Compensation, Temporary Disability Benefits, etc.

Answers the main HR phone line, checks the HR email, and responds to inquiries.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business or related field and one year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for human resources, higher education, or public administration; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated.

Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and systems associated with human resources administration.

Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.

Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
-
Ability to interpret, summarize, and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and through presentations.
