6 month contract with high likelihood of extension or conversion to full-time
POSITION OVERVIEW – Catalyst Lab Technician I - Well executes lab tasks for the testing of refining catalysts & hydrocarbon feedstocks/products under the direction of team leader, senior operation team members, and/or research engineer/chemist lab users
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handling BSU or PTU testing units’ product collection, blending, storage, and inspection sample submissions, may include potentially hazardous chemicals.
- Operating team’s various analytical equipment, to collect feed/product characterization data and generate summary reports; strictly following SOPs and QA/QC principles while performing these tasks.
- Supporting the operation of complex Bench Scale Units for catalyst evaluation work, which may run at elevated temperature & pressure (?500F and ?1000 psig), such as monitoring and recording unit status information.
- Conducting basic maintenance and troubleshooting of lab’s analytics and testing systems; maintaining good housekeeping in the laboratory with little to no guidance.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
- Strictly Follows client’s Operation Excellence expectations, lab operation safety requirements and project deliverables metrics.
- Clearly documents work processes and results to ensure proper Intellectual Property protection.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- A BSc in chemistry or in a related science field.
- Must have laboratory work experience, such as:
- Proven skills in safe handling chemicals and glassware, and operating analytical or testing equipment.
o General knowledge of experimental process monitoring and recording practice, lab equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
o Clear demonstration of safe lab work behaviors, and awareness of safety requirements when working with hazardous chemicals, high-pressure, and high-temperature process units.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Operation of testing unit at elevated temperatures and pressures (?500F & ?1000 psig).
- Mechanical skills for assembling simple piping and testing equipment.
- MS office software, instrumentation/process control software knowledge.
- Strong commitment to delivering high quality results in both lab and office work.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key project partners outside their immediate work group.
