- Prepare the Cath Lab for procedures, ensuring all required instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and sterile.
- Scrub in and assist the cardiologist/interventionalist during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, pacemaker insertions, and other cardiac interventions.
- Handle and anticipate the needs for instruments, catheters, guidewires, and other devices.
- Monitor patient condition, vital signs, and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Maintain accurate documentation of the procedure, medications used, and supplies consumed.
- Ensure adherence to radiation safety and infection control standards.
- Assist with the safe transfer of the patient to the recovery area or designated unit.
- Provide post-procedural nursing care and monitor for complications.
- Participate in cleaning, restocking, and preparing the lab for the next case.
- Document and report any adverse events or equipment issues.
- Participate in emergency procedures (e.g., cardiac arrest management).
- Collaborate with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of Cath Lab procedures, equipment, and nursing best practices.
- Comply with all hospital policies, safety regulations, and quality assurance standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training.
- Verify patient identity and procedure details; ensure informed consent is obtained.
- Assess and prepare patients for procedures, including pre-procedure education and baseline vital signs.
- Assist with setting up the sterile field and maintaining aseptic technique.
