The Filed Service Engineer is responsible to perform field service activities, including all types of maintenance services (preventive and remedial), manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the test & commissioning (T&S) of protection & busbar protection, M&D Projects, any other GA related projects.
- Responsible for the resource planning of the Field Service commissioning team for running projects.
- Manage the workload of the projects to ensure 90% and above billable ratio.
- Liaise with other members of a multidisciplinary team.
- Support to Operations team to Control projects effectively in terms of budgeted profitability, planning, and general reporting (internal / external).
- Ensure that agreements with customer for documentation lead times, delivery, reliability and quality are achieved within the budgetary constraints agreed within the Unit.
- Follow workplace EHS issues and ensure availability of suitable PPE for T&C personnel, both internal and subcontracted.
- Manage and secure approval as well as renewal of approvals of engineering engineers from key accounts.
- Ensure commitments to customer are met in accordance with contract with clear feedback through consistent customer interaction, e.g. communication, (phone, e-mail, etc.) and customer meetings, periodic reviews etc.
- Implementation of ServiceMax during the project execution.
- Have experience and able to handle engineering and field service works for [Protection Relays, Panels modification, protection logic diagram, GA/LA, Bill of Materials, Purchasing requests, Protection/SCMS/LCC Schematics, SCMS/Cyber Security Architectures, SCMS Signal list, Cable Schedule, Control Desk Drawing, IEC61850 signal mapping, etc..].
- Support for all Production documents (Wiring Table/Label list/Cable Schedule/Interpanel wiring files), CT/VT Adequacy check, Relay setting calculations.
- Have experience for busbar protection engineering and site works.
- Experienced in all protection relays software, test kits, and Microsoft office.
- Revise drawings against comments and replying to customer / Consultant comments.
- Provide technical clarification to Suppliers/Customers.
- Coordinating with panel manufacturer.
- Representing GE before customer & consultants in technical discussions and workshop.
- Providing input and securing design documents of required quality on time from design out-sourcing partners.
- Assisting and guiding a small team of draftsmen in their daily design
- activities to bring out collaborative performance.
- Able to handle the testing, panel integration, and internal validation at GEV facility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electronic/electrical engineering or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in protection, CCS (Conventional Control System), M&D (monitoring and diagnose) systems such as MiCOM, UR family protection relays, DGA900, MS3000, etc.
- Minimum of 3 years of working experience in high voltage substation engineering and field activities
- Strong knowledge in protection main relays and busbar philosophy and testing at sites
- Strong knowledge in Conventional Control System (CCS), distributed control system (DCS) and cyber security system implementation and site activities
- Strong knowledge in field devices, instruments and CCS systems
- Ability to understand and implement technical drawings (wiring diagram, P&ID, General Arrangement, etc…)
- Strong computer skills using MS Office Software Suite
- Strong communication skills in English
- This role requires 100% travel across the region
Desired Characteristics
- PMP certification is an advantage but not compulsory
- Fluency in Arabic is an advantage
- Knowledge of schemes and application of protection relays in electrical networks including HV & EHV systems, and state-of-the-art technologies in substation automation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
- Ability to read / interpret tender / contract documentation, schematics, procedures, and policy guidelines
- Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence
