Position Overview:
The Central Supply Manager manages and directs the supply chain and purchase services for the surgical services department. Performs the functions of a specialized central supply service, such as inventory management, requisition approval, spend analysis and intermediary. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
- Oversee purchasing and inventory management, ensuring adequate supply levels and timely procurement of medical equipment and supplies.
- Supervise central service staff, including scheduling, assigning work, and overseeing sterilization, decontamination, packaging, and distribution processes.
- Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and quality control standards to ensure safety, compliance, and consistent service delivery.
- Monitor demand trends and operational needs, adjusting ordering, processing, and logistics to support patient care efficiently.
- Evaluate, recommend, and budget for new or replacement equipment and supplies, including vendor coordination and product assessment.
Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in Central Supply or materials management, preferably in a healthcare or skilled-nursing setting.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards related to medical supplies, infection control, and compliance.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems with high attention to accuracy, reporting, and data analysis.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to effectively manage staff and collaborate with departments and vendors.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field, with professional certifications (e.g., CMRP, CHL, CIS, CHRMM) preferred but not required.
