Under the direct supervision of a licensed Anesthesia provider, the Anesthesia Technician II provides advanced anesthesia support in high-acuity surgical environments, with primary assignment to the Cardiovascular service line. This position will also provide day-to-day direction and assistance to the Anesthesia Techs. Participates in OR room turnover and performs activities as directed to ensure efficiency and safe patient care in the OR environment. A Brief Overview

What You Will Do
-
Acts as a certified level Anesthesia Tech to provide day-to-day direction and assistance for activities in Anesthesia. Monitors the work of others and acts as a department resource. Collaborates with technical staff in organizing daily workflow and patient care.

Assists with on-the-job training, education, and in service programs to ensure a high level of technical expertise and compliance with continuing education requirements.

Provides support to anesthesiologists and registered nurses in the preparation, care, maintenance, and availability of anesthesia supplies and equipment.

Prepares and assembles anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical procedures using sterile technique; performs equipment calibration and checks; sets up special equipment and supplies based on patient needs.

Performs daily care and routine maintenance of anesthesia related equipment. Inspects for damage and repair, and reports equipment for repair and safety hazards. Verifies the performance of airway and monitoring equipment for constant readiness. Maintains a sterile field for anesthesia services. Ensures adherence to the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques. Responsible for monitoring and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.

Assists in the induction, maintenance, and emergence phase of anesthesia.

Demonstrates knowledge, comprehension, and applies monitors in collaboration with anesthesia providers during patient care.

Supports invasive line placement (arterial lines, central venous lines) including equipment preparation, sterile setup, and assisting during placement.

Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education Qualifications
-
Technical Degree or Diploma Anesthesia Technology
-
Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma Completion of an ASATT advancement program for people already holding the Cer.A.T. credential

High School Diploma or Equivalent plus completion of the Practical Experience Pathway through ASATT
Experience Qualifications
-
1-3 years Minimum of two years experience in a hospital-based anesthesia department or high-acuity patient setting.
Skills And Abilities

Demonstrated understanding of quality assurance, set-up, and calibration of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation.

Demonstrates competency in anesthesia used to guide / lead others and carry out more complex assignments.

Understands the principles and procedures related to infection control and aseptic technique.
