Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during various procedures by preparing and passing instruments efficiently, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques. Take and develop high-quality dental X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support diagnosis and treatment planning. Support pediatric dentistry patients with specialized care approaches, including behavior management and age-appropriate communication. Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, adhering to infection control protocols and OSHA standards. Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless patient flow from reception to treatment completion.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and understanding dental terminology. Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation of medical records and coding. Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and anatomy relevant to dental procedures. Experience working in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments is highly valued. Ability to operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and perform vital signs assessments confidently. Strong understanding of dental specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, and implant procedures enhances your versatility as a team member. Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, especially children in pediatrics, combined with a solid grasp of medical terminology relevant to dental care.
