Duties
- Assist dentists during patient examinations and procedures by preparing instruments, materials, and dental supplies using aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop X-ray images with precision, ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and privacy.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft to accurately document patient information, treatment plans, and medical history.
- Perform vital signs assessments including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and medical imaging as needed for comprehensive patient care.
- Provide chairside assistance during procedures involving endodontics, prosthodontics, or pediatric dentistry, supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency.
- Maintain infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, disinfecting treatment areas, and following strict aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
- Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and managing patient flow seamlessly throughout the day.
- Assist with dental imaging procedures using advanced tools like 3D scanners to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including HIPAA for confidentiality and infection control guidelines for clinical safety.
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Dental Assistant with current state licensure or registration.
- Proven experience in dental assisting within a clinical setting, preferably with pediatric dentistry or general dentistry practices.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices.
- Skilled in taking X-rays and operating medical imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with dental specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics; experience with 3D scanners is advantageous.
- Ability to perform vital signs assessments accurately and support patients of all ages including pediatrics.
