Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates with precision and professionalism
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and treatments across various specialties including dermatology, internal medicine, emergency medicine, and geriatrics
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort; administer medications and injections following established protocols
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, ICD coding for diagnoses, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Proven experience in outpatient clinics or hospital environments; familiarity with hospital experience or Level I/II trauma center settings highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support effective patient care
- Experience working with EHR systems for documentation and order entry; proficiency in ICD coding is a plus
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with intake assessments, medication administration, and basic X-ray procedures
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients
- Knowledge of emergency medicine protocols and inpatient care procedures; familiarity with hospital medicine standards is desirable
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in outpatient or inpatient settings
