Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, to perform clinical procedures to prepare patients and/or research participants for treatment or research protocol. To assist physician or other healthcare team member with completion of treatment/protocol. To perform simple, non-invasive patient procedures according to applicable policy and/or protocol. May perform various clerical and/or lab duties as requested. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric. All candidates for this position must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
1. Performs specific, non-invasive clinical procedures to prepare patient or research participant for treatment or research protocol. Assists physician or other healthcare team member in administering direct and indirect treatment. Adheres to all applicable policies and protocols.
2. Performs clerical tasks as requested including, but not limited to, scheduling, maintaining patient charts, typing and insurance filing.
3. May perform lab activities as requested such as venipuncture and referring specimens for testing.
4. Participates in quality improvement initiatives. Provides a safe environment for patients and others. Responds to the unique needs of all patients ages newborn through geriatric.
5. Demonstrates a responsible attitude toward continued professional growth.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Under general supervision, perform drug screens for court-ordered clients at our UAB Substance Abuse Division labs based on established policies and procedures. May perform clerical and/or lab duties as requested. Performs all duties related to the preparation, distribution, cataloging and storage of lab specimens for testing. Responsible for performing non-invasive clinical tasks according to applicable policy and/or protocol. Responds to the unique needs of all patients.
Day shift - onsite 40hrs per week
Minimum Requirements High School diploma or GED required. Licenses / Certifications / Registrations Currently certified as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) required. If certified by another accrediting agency, AAMA or NHA certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
