This position is for an Adult Geriatric or Family Nurse Practitioner in the Internal Medicine Service, not a psychiatric service. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Family or or Adult Gerontology NP is needed.
Job Summary
Summary
The Family, Adult, or Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner provides internal medicine consultation services to patients receiving inpatient or residential psychiatric care at McLean Hospital in Belmont, MA. The CNP practices under the direct supervision of a board eligible or board-certified physician, or APRN with full practice authority. The services provided falls within the scope of overall practice by the Nurse Practitioner including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals with medical and psychiatric disorders.
Essential Functions
Provides clinical services including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment to patients
Documents each clinical visit in the medical record on the day of service. Contributes to treatment plans and discharge summaries as needed
Participates in team rounds and other clinical meetings, and helps coordinate treatment and discharge planning as needed
Oversees appropriate medical care and prescribes medications as noted in the “McLean Hospital Guidelines for Practice” document
Meets with families for clinical discussions as needed
Communicates with referring sources, primary care physicians, and other community providers as needed
Attends program and hospital administrative meetings as required
Complies with all hospital clinical and administrative policies
Participates in utilization management, risk management, and quality assurance activities
Provides supervision of health professional trainees as appropriate
Facilitates integration of medical services with other clinical program services
Attends supervision with supervising/collaborating provider

Master's Degree Nursing required

Experience

- Must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes.
