Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support medical teams by preparing patients for examinations or procedures, including assisting with catheter care, wound care, and aseptic techniques.
- Help manage patient mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer techniques are followed.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
- Document patient information meticulously in medical records while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in diverse settings such as ICU, emergency medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics, hospice care, or behavioral health units to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Skills
- Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral health needs.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to assist effectively in acute care environments like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and medication administration under supervision when required.
- Experience in various healthcare settings including hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, home & community care, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or sub-acute care environments.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and infectious disease care protocols.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient service across diverse populations such as pediatrics or geriatrics.
