Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to enhance comfort and independence.
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Support patient care plans by providing specialized services such as catheter care, wound care, or assistance with medical devices like Hoyer lifts or tracheostomy tubes.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure proper medication administration and adherence to safety protocols including aseptic technique and infection control standards.
  • Document patient interactions thoroughly in medical documentation systems while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
  • Assist in emergency situations by applying basic life support (BLS) techniques and responding swiftly to urgent care needs in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU units.
  • Provide compassionate care for individuals with complex needs including dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral health conditions, or developmental disabilities in settings like memory care or assisted living facilities.

Qualifications

  • Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) recognized by the state licensing board.
  • Prior experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, or home care is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and infection control practices essential for delivering safe patient care.
  • Experience with specialized procedures including phlebotomy or working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced settings such as emergency medicine or acute care units.
