Certified Ophthalmic Asst (COA)

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), you will be a central figure in ophthalmic patient care, providing essential clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient clinic flow and exceptional patient experiences.

Every day, you will perform critical patient work-ups, conduct diagnostic tests like visual acuity and tonometry, and skillfully assist with minor in-office procedures, educating patients on their eye care needs.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical acumen, meticulous attention to detail, and exceptional communication skills, all driven by a passion for delivering high-quality, compassionate ophthalmic care.
Job Requirements
  • JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
  • One (1) year working in an optometry or ophthalmology practice
  • Working knowledge of anatomy, pharmacology, medical terminology, sterilization techniques, and basic eye care
  • Understanding of ophthalmic testing and the use of ophthalmic instruments and equipment
  • Basic skills in operating a computer and office equipment
  • Strong interpersonal and customer relations skills; strong communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to make chart documentation with entry into electronic medical record

Pay Range

$28.10 - $41.80 /hour
