Job Summary
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and medication safety. In this vital role, you will support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, managing medication inventory, and providing exceptional patient service within a fast-paced hospital or LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy setting. Your critical care experience and knowledge of medical terminology will ensure precise medication administration and adherence to aseptic techniques. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to acute care environments, including IV infusion preparation and medication intake processes, all while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and service excellence.

Duties

  • Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Manage medication inventory, stock replenishment, and proper storage in accordance with hospital or LTC pharmacy standards.
  • Support patient intake procedures by accurately documenting medication histories and verifying prescriptions.
  • Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, explaining medication instructions, and ensuring understanding of treatment plans.
  • Prepare medications for dispensing, including labeling, packaging, and documentation in line with medical terminology standards.
  • Maintain meticulous records of medication administration, inventory logs, and incident reports to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth medication workflows within acute care or critical care settings.

Experience

  • Prior pharmacy technician experience in hospital or LTC pharmacy environments is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology relevant to pharmacy practice and patient care.
  • Experience supporting medication administration processes within acute or hospital care settings is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software systems for intake, inventory management, and documentation is preferred.
